Ahhh, the best laid plans...or "What happened to Wednesday?!?"
Yes, Wed is usually a short run of 30 minutes or so. Problem is, I travel to Manhattan most Wednesdays and getting in my workout AND catching the train is always tight. So I missed my morning run.
Instead, I got up today well after my alarm went off (poor Trish!) and decided to skip my Thu swim and combine my 75min Thu bike with my missed 50min Tue bike and my missed 30min Wed run. Kind of like a goulash workout.
I ended up biking for 1:40 (instead of 2) and running for 15 minutes (instead of :30), once again due to time constraints, only to return home and find my 9:00 a.m. appointment had called to reschedule.
The one thing I learned in training, and in business, is no matter what you plan, something is gonna screw it up.The thing is, that's not a problem, it's a part of the process. I remember reading in a marathon training article that a runner should expect to have two instances during their training (which is usually a 12 to 16 week period) when they will not be able to train due to injury, schedule... The article advised to go with the flow and not try to make up lost ground; just accept it as part of the process.
So there you have it, make your plan, execute, roll with the punches without getting frustrated and keep moving. You might not get where you're going how (or when) you thought you would, but you'll get there nonetheless.
Tomorrow is a 60 minute run. We'll see...
